Four Reasons To Consider Reclaimed Tile Flooring For Your Bathroom

Blog

If you're remodelling your bathroom, you've probably considered several flooring options, including ceramic tiles. There are many great choices for people of all lifestyles and preferences, but reclaimed ceramic tiles are a fantastic idea that too many homeowners overlook--and here's why that's a shame.

#1: They can add a little style and colour to any bathroom, however small

Bathrooms are usually the smallest space in your home, and they can be difficult to personalise. By using something fun, interesting and unusual for your bathroom floor, you'll inject plenty of personality without needing to do anything difficult or dramatic! Reclaimed tiles are laid in exactly the same way as new ones, so you and your contractors won't need to figure out how to do anything new or complex.

#2: You'll be doing the planet a favour--and maybe heritage, too

By buying reclaimed and recycled tiles rather than new ones, you'll be contributing to the reuse/reduce/recycle movement without needing to do any extra work at all. You might also be able to save tiles from older buildings that would otherwise be thrown away, thus preserving a slice of history. It's another way to help the planet and reduce your carbon footprint--something all homeowners should be thinking about as they make their decisions.

#3: It gives you a chance to truly express your personal sense of interior design

There are so many different styles and colours available that you're bound to be able to find something you'll love. Everyone enjoys living in a home that really looks like it belongs to them--and this is a very easy way to help you toward that goal. Shop around a little before you make your final decision to ensure you've found the right tiles for you!

#4: A chance to bring a piece of history into your home is always a lovely thing!

Many reclaimed ceramic tiles come from older buildings that are being remodelled or knocked down, and this means that they can sometimes be very old. Having antiques in your home adds something beautiful, but many are harder to care for than a simple tiled floor--making this a brilliant way to include something with a bit of history without needing to worry too much about how to look after it! Most reclaimed ceramic tiles have exactly the same care needs as new ones, so you won't need to call in cleaning professionals once your floor has been laid.

Getting a colourful floor for our cafe

Our cafe has a funky and bright colour scheme. It's hard to find the right flooring option as we have a lot of foot traffic and bright colours can look dull when we have had a busy period. It also tends to fade when we have to use heavy strength cleaning chemicals on heavier messes. Recently we have started exploring some non-traditional flooring options such as flooring based on recycled plastics and rubber based plastics with poured patterns. It looks really good. This blog talks about some of the flooring options that are available for high traffic areas, including some of the newer and non-traditional materials you can use.
